Otitis media refers to a group of inflammatory diseases of the middle ear.
According to the literature, the use of computational approaches on otology is rather limited. The examination of the eardrum in clinics are conducted visually. This process leads to a limited variability among the observers, includes human error, and it is not objective. It is observed that the practitioners do not fully understand the importance of decision support systems in this field.
In this project, we tackle these disadvantages by applying the computational approaches to otoscope images for detection of tympanic membrane and classification of different otitis media types.
